"About Us"

It all started in Australia... It was 1986, when a very good friend gave me my first Lhasa Apso as a Christmas Gift. "What do I do with him?" I asked. I was told the only condition was that he had to be shown. I had a miniature poodle at the time and although he was personality plus, he was very demanding and quite the home wrecker. Amos, my Lhasa on the other hand was a happy playful little guy and so this is when I fell in love with the breed.

About Us photo

My life was about to take a new direction in the real sense of the word.......I moved to Canada!!!!

Amos came with me and yes, he did become a show dog and finished his Championship very quickly. My partner Roger and I decided to acquire a female to start our kennel. We obtained a beautiful puppy call "Absolutely So Sue Me Love"....Suzie for short. She was a beautiful show dog and did very well in the shows, but her true talents were to be recognized in the whelping box!  Suzie gave us some very fine offspring. Hence the kennel name "Suam Lhasas" was born.

"Su" after Suzie and "Am" after Amos.

I then imported another boy from the breeder who gave me Amos. This puppy had an adventurous flight to Canada with delays and rerouting to Toronto, but survived all that to become another Star!!

His name was Rave. These dogs have been the foundation of our breeding program. It has taken some different direction over years, always with the goal in mind to improve our breeding stock and produce the best examples of the Lhasa Apsos that we can. Since living in Canada for the last 16 years, I have met many wonderful people in the dog fancy and we have made such great friends. I have lately had the honor of being asked to judge at some local events, which I have enjoyed and may aspire to do in the future.

Roger and I are committed to our home raised and loved Lhasa Apsos and welcome anyone onto our site so that we can share our joy of this breed.
